Decatur Rotary Club Meeting Information: Chet Burge: Three Taverns Brewery

Date: 4/25/2014 at 12:15 PM

Bringing an open-minded American interpretation to traditional Belgian-style beers, the mission of Three Taverns is to unlock and inspire the pursuit of a more transcendent experience of life. With grace, reverence and moderation we invite our friends and neighbors to join us at the table of discovery, raising glasses in gratitude and merry celebration.

From inception, the slogan for Three Taverns has been transcendo mediocris, or ’surpass the ordinary’. It is deeply woven into our very being and expresses itself in everything we do, especially in our effort to craft beers that amaze and inspire. Our recipes have been tested and refined again and again, laboriously and over a number of years, in order to bring a truly remarkable experience to our customers. Likewise, our brewing process also cuts no corners. From our inception we have been committed to a state of the art brewhouse with meticulously defined brewing methods. Our process is rigorous, time consuming, and costly, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Located in Decatur, GA, Three Taverns is the only Belgian-style brewery in the Southeast committed to old world craftsmanship in the new south.

About Chet Burge:

The finances of Three Taverns could not be in better hands than those of Chet Burge. A CPA with more than two decades of Big 4, corporate and independent experience, Burge has assisted many companies, from small, family-owned firms to large corporate enterprises, with smart financial management, solid accounting practice and wise tax planning. Burge began his career at Price Waterhouse (now Price Waterhouse Coopers), with five years of intense exposure to the inner financial workings of that firm’s illustrious list of clients. Like many Big 4 vets, Burge’s next move was into senior financial management, where he worked in various controller positions, then as vice president of finance (Johnson Industries, a Genuine Parts company) and CFO (Optimus Solutions/Canvas Systems). Burge’s next move was back into public accounting, first with Lewis and Company then with his own firm, Burge and Associates, PC, where today he serves as managing partner. Frequently spotted on the sidewalks of southern craft beer hub Decatur, where he’s raising four children with wife Lee Beth and is active in the local community, Burge jumped at the chance to serve Three Taverns in a financial capacity and help bring a dream to life.
